About Earth Day

The world is celebrating the 54th Earth Day this year. Every year, Earth Day marks the anniversary of the birth of the modern environmental movement in 1970. The San Mateo County Safe Routes to School team is encouraging all schools across the county to walk & roll to school on Earth Day.

In 1970, the Earth Day movement began with 20 million people across the United States participating. Learn more about Earth Day History and watch What is Earth Day? The History.
