Religion

St. Charles School is first and foremost a Catholic School. The religion program is the underlying structure of each school day. Teachers use a textbook series from Loyola Press called Finding God, which provides instruction in the Catholic faith, real life connections to living as a Christian, an appreciation for the Catholic traditions, and a connection to home and community life. Religion as taught at St. Charles School includes teaching “faith knowledge” and “living the faith” in prayer, worship, service, and understanding of others. Character education, Catholic Social Teachings, and Christian Service are all aspects integrated into the religion program for all students.
Character Strong, a research-based program, aligns with Catholic Social Teachings and complements the religion textbook, helping students build healthy social relationships and stronger friendships. Major elements include self-awareness, self-management, social awareness, relationship skills, and responsible decision-making. Respect, empathy, kindness, and a sense of belonging help students handle difficult situations, respect differences, and resolve conflicts.
