Music and Drama
Music
Music is taught from kindergarten through sixth grade and is a comprehensive program that includes music appreciation, rhythm, reading basic notation, historical and cultural music, the variety of types of music, liturgical music, and the basic knowledge and use of simple instruments. Students in grades K-6 learn choral music, basic rhythm instruments, recorder, and glockenspiel. Performances in Advent and in Spring showcase their development.
Dramatic Arts
Drama is taught to students in grades seven through eight. The program emphasizes basic skills such as stage presence, voice projection, singing, dancing, and performing. Students in grades 7 and 8 explore communication through the performing arts, including individual and group productions. Activities across the two grade levels include writing monologues, developing commercials, representing a person or idea through individual performance, and performing in a school musical.
